‘Halt and Catch Fire’ renewed for season 4 by AMC; will be final season
Earlier today, we speculated on what the future was going to be for AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” moving into tomorrow night’s season finale. Certainly, we were concerned that the ratings were not going to be enough, regardless of how much we love the series.
Now, we are pleased to know that the tech drama, starring Lee Pace, Mackenzie Davis, and others, was renewed for a fourth and final season by the network earlier today. Think of this as further evidence that few networks out there treat their shows better than AMC. You’ve seen it here, and then with “Turn: Washington’s Spies” or “Hell on Wheels.” While they do make cancellations from time to time, they do prefer to see their products through if possible.
In a statement today confirming the renewal, Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, had the following to say:
“We are so proud of ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ – a true passion project – and thank the critics and fans who have embraced this unique program … Congratulations and thanks to creators and showrunners Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers and to Halt’s enormously talented writing team, producers, cast and crew. It is our great pleasure to renew this project for a fourth and final season, so we can all tune in to see if Cameron, Donna and the rest of the gang turn Swap Meet into eBay, Amazon or Facebook.”
The fourth season will likely premiere next year, and given how much the series managed to reinvent itself with every season to date, it is certainly easy to believe that the same sort of thing will be coming moving forward.
