‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant Ryan Lochte, model Kayla Rae Reid engaged
Mrs. Carter: The romance continues in the “Dancing with the Stars” universe!
One week after we saw pro dancer Sasha Farber propose to Emma Slater on the ABC reality show, there’s some more good news coming out about contestant / Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte: He (pictured above with Cheryl Burke) is now engaged to girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid. He and the magazine model first started dating earlier this year, and she was there to stand by him through a myriad of his problems over the past several months.
This certainly is a tumultuous time for Lochte, complete with highs and lows. He won medals at the Olympics, only for that experience to be tainted by a scandal of his own making and the public-relations nightmare that followed. “Dancing with the Stars” offered a chance at redemption, but in the opening week he was heckled by someone who crashed the stage. He and Burke moved past that, and he is still a part of the show moving into its fifth week. While we would not consider him a threat to win, he could still make it many more weeks.
As for Reid, we imagine that she will be there, her own schedule permitting, to cheer him on. We also imagine that this is going to be addressed in some way on an upcoming episode of the show. If nothing else, maybe this experience will help Lochte be able to be a better dancer for his now-upcoming wedding. Granted, we don’t think they will be performing the samba or the tango.
Congrats to the happy couple! Hopefully, we’ll hear more of their story soon.
