‘Supernatural’ season 12 spoilers: What’s up for Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles in ‘The Foundry’

Supernatural -

Admittedly when we hear the words “The Foundry” right now, for whatever reason it reminds us of the Armory from this past season of “The Vampire Diaries” — and yet, they’re separate things. Specifically, “The Foundry” is the title for the upcoming October 27 episode of “Supernatural” season 12, and one that could combine all sorts of character mythology with some humor and even some unexpected pairings to boot.

With this show, The CW does not tend to release as many details in advance as they do others. Yet, we do think there’s a lot of enjoyment that comes out of reading the attached synopsis:

“When a crying baby leads to death in a mysterious abandoned house, Mary (guest star Samantha Smith), Sam (Jared Padelicki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) decide to investigate. Meanwhile, Castiel’s (Misha Collins) hunt for Lucifer (guest star Rick Springfield) leads him, begrudgingly, to partner up with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard).”

Basically, we’re going to have a chance to see Mary Winchester work alongside both of her sons, and there’s some enjoyment that comes out of the thought of this for us. It’s a chance for some much-needed family bonding! Of course, we have a really hard time envisioning that this is going to be all sunshine, rainbows, and happiness. There’ll probably be a lot of conflict and a number of disagreements that come up, just because all of these characters are strong personalities.

Meanwhile, the idea of Crowley and Castiel working together is always gold, mostly because A) Crowley doesn’t know how to work well with anyone in a team and B) Collins and Sheppard have a really fun chemistry together.
