‘American Horror Story’ season 7: Ryan Murphy hints at new idea

Roanoke -

On Tuesday, the news was first announced that “American Horror Story” was renewed by FX for a seventh season, and we do think that this news is certainly worth celebrating. While we haven’t necessarily loved the past few years of the show, we remain an advocate for the show continuing to try new things and experimenting. After all, sooner or later we imagine that there will be an idea that really appeals to us — even if it’s only for a few episodes. (For season 6, we enjoyed the first two episodes before things started to get a little weird.)

What is especially interesting right now about the season 7 renewal is that executive producer Ryan Murphy already has a concept for it in mind. Calling it “narratively strange,” he described it as follows to Entertainment Weekly:

“It comes to me as it always comes to me … I sit up and bed and I say ‘That’s it!’ I have been mulling a couple of ideas and I wasn’t loving it. Then I was thinking of this other thing and I literally sat up and bed and said ‘That’s it!’ Whenever it happens it’s such a relief because it’s so much pressure.”

The report also confirms that the super-secret “Horror Story” project, which has been in development for some time with a mystery writer, may be considered the eighth season of the show. This renewal is not meant to be an indicator that this particular iteration of the show is coming soon.
