Tonight’s season premiere of “The Flash” is almost here. Commence your rejoicing! It’s one of our favorite superhero series out there, and there is such a sense of fun and excitement that comes from it. There are serious moments, but it’s lighter than many of the super-serious shows we get elsewhere.
Granted, there is some serious stuff coming on Tuesday night in the wake of Barry Allen going back in time to save his mother, and change almost everything in his life. Now, Wally West is The Flash (or Kid Flash, as we should call him), and the sneak peek below features him squaring off with a new speedster villain known as The Rival.
There is a bit of fun that comes out of watching this, mostly in that Barry seems to relish being the person protected by a speedster rather than the one who constantly has to do most of the saving himself. Much of the frustration for him being the character seems to come mostly out of having the weight of the world almost constantly on his shoulders. It’s a hard sort of burden for him to have to deal with, and we do get the sense that at least at first, he’s going to love having a normal life in this episode.
Will that change? You have to think so, given that this is “The Flash” and it’s hard to imagine this show going for an incredibly long time without Barry getting back into what he does best — even if there are times when he doesn’t want to realize it.
