Could ‘Supergirl’ lead to Superman show down the road? Tyler Hoechlin chimes in

Superman -In just one week’s time, we’re going to get a chance to see the big debut of Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent on “Supergirl,” and we like to think that it is never too early to start asking some questions on the future. Specifically here, what we’re wondering about more than anything is whether or not we are going to have a chance to see a Superman-led show in the future. Isn’t anything possible? We never thought that there would be four superhero shows on The CW at the same time, just as we never quite imagined that we were going to have a chance to see DC Films sign off on letting one of their most-noteworthy movie characters cross over to the small screen. Yet, we’re here, and the gig is officially happening!

So in speaking on what the future could be, Tyler Hoechlin was noncommittal in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly — but he certainly is happy to take on the role right now:

“It’s been a few years since Superman’s really been sticking around on TV for a long time, and who knows what they’ll end up doing and what they’ll want to do. There’s obviously so much going on with this Superman character in the world of DC and the films, and so who knows what they’ll want to do. But it’s fun to be doing it for what it is right now, and if something else comes out of it in the future, then that’s something they’ll let us know down the road. I’m just very excited for what the situation is at the moment.”

Personally, we do feel like DC is going to continue to have a vicegrip on Superman for at least a little while longer, at least in terms of him getting a separate series. With that said, we do imagine that the odds are good we will see Clark again at some point beyond just the first couple of “Supergirl” episodes this season.
