‘Quantico’ season 2, episode 2 review: The latest ‘traitor’ for the cause
We are two episodes in now to the second season of “Quantico,” and in the midst of all of the craziness, isn’t it good to get a little bit of friend-time? For Alex, she got that courtesy of Shelby as she served as a good source of comfort through what she was going through. The truth is, Alex is making it through her training at The Farm, but at the same time, it’s miserable. She’s forced into lying all the time, and she is glad to have someone that she can speak the truth to — even if it means disclosing something that the agency probably wouldn’t like.
Also in this episode, we had a chance to learn more about Alex’s roommate Dayana, a woman stretched far-too-thin by her previous legal career and the loyalty she felt to it. She wasn’t keen on making friends there, but she may find that she needs one. Training to date is methodical, but it at least feels different than life at Quantico. We’re not sure we could handle seeing the same thing all over again.
In the future, the hostage crisis remains intense, and one of the biggest problems she is running into is that she cannot figure out precisely how to infiltrate the captors. She knows very little information, and while she may be skilled, these are the sort of stakes that make the show exciting! We appreciated the pacing in here, since the show is clearly not rushing anything for the sake of producing big / pointless TV moments. The one that we had of Miranda being a possible traitor felt like it fit in with the rest of the story.
The question we’re left with is this: What is Miranda really doing? Given that this is only episode 2, we think that this hostage crisis is far more complicated than we know. Hopefully, over time Alex finds some ways to survive, and relies on some of her new friends to make it happen. Grade: B.
