‘The X Factor’ UK review: Did James Wilson, Honey G, Saara Aalto, Janet Grogan make live shows?

Sharon -Sharon Osbourne’s got a highly competitive team of Overs this season on “The X Factor,” and we’re excited to see how many of them fare. She’s got a great category this time! Of course, there is the whole Honey G nonsense, but she’s got several people who we think could actually develop a following in the UK if they were given an opportunity.

As per usual with these reviews, we’re going to give you more and more of our take on some given performers as the night goes on. Be sure to refresh the page!

Relley C – She didn’t get through the first time that she made it to this far, but we do think that she’s got a good chance this time. We didn’t really see her much before we got to the Six-Chair Challenge, but that may just be to compensate for the time she got last time.

Christopher Peyton – We get what Sharon is saying about him being “too slick,” at least in that he is very polished and some may think that he’s probably not going to connect with younger viewers. He’s good, but is he right for this show?

James Wilson – He’s wonderfully emotional, but was he a little too subdued here? We would’ve preferred him to hold out a few notes further, but we would say that he was our favorite of the first three to perform.

Samantha Atkinson – Admittedly, we don’t love this song, which probably isn’t great because it is Louisa Johnson’s and she is the reigning champ. She does have a great look, and we like that there aren’t too many female singers out there with this many tattoos.

Saara Aalto – The biggest problem for Saara is that she’s a little like a Disney princess, and she’s unfortunately for her in a category with a coach in Sharon who doesn’t have anything in common with her at all.

Janet Grogan – Beautiful performance. “Ordinary World” is such a fantastic song, and she managed to straddle that line between delivering great vocals and also connecting to the lyrics in a very real way.

Honey G – Okay, so the reality here is that she’s a complete mess. She’s funny, but at the same time putting her through would just be akin to having someone there for the wrong reasons. People will vote for her ironically.

Results – Sharon bummed us out first by eliminating James. Then, she kept Saara! Given that she didn’t want to do it at first, this one surprised us. Then, OF COURSE SHE KEPT HONEY G. Ugh. At least you can argue Saara has a shot at this. Her final spot went to Relley C, which basically means that Sharon didn’t pick anyone in our top three — James, Samantha, and Janet.
