Netflix crashes day after ‘Luke Cage’ premiere
We know that Netflix has gotta have some of the strongest servers out there in order to handle the massive amount of traffic that they routinely receive — so to have them go down for some sort of issue implies that there must be a lot of people checking out their lineup.
One day after the premiere of “Luke Cage,” the streaming company started to suffer some outages that were quickly reported all around the country. Maybe it has nothing to do with the Mike Colter series and it is a worthy scapegoat, but regardless of the reason, there are some very-clear hiccups on the service. We figure that it will be resolved soon, hopefully even by the time you’re reading this. You can see the tweet below from the company’s customer-service Twitter account about it.
“Luke Cage” was heavily promoted going into its Friday premiere, and given the widespread success of “Jessica Jones” plus additional hype, there was certainly a feeling that it would be big. How big? That’s the question nobody knows, given that Netflix does not release any of their viewership data. The perception by many is that these Marvel series, coupled with “Orange is the New Black” and now “Fuller House,” are probably some of their most-popular programs.
This is no the first time that a streaming outlet this year has experienced some problems because of a huge premiere; earlier this year, HBO NOW experienced major difficulties following the premiere of “Game of Thrones.”
