When “Supergirl” ventured over to The CW, one of the issues that came as a result of it was that Calista Flockhart was no longer going to be a regular as Cat Grant. You will still see her, but the frequency of these appearances is unclear. Kara is moving up in the hierarchy at CatCo, and she’s moving to a different division and getting a new boss in Snapper Carr — which has to be one of our favorite boss names of all time.
You’ll get a chance to see this professional shake-up for Kara on the second episode of this season entitled “The Last Children of Krypton,” which airs on Monday, October 17. The synopsis below is a pretty good indicator as to what to expect:
“CADMUS attacks National City with a kryptonite powered villain who ends up seriously hurting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin) blames Hank (David Harewood) because the kryptonite was stolen from the DEO. Meanwhile, Kara’s first day at her new job doesn’t go as planned after she meets her new boss, Snapper Carr (guest star Ian Gomez).”
Is CADMUS going to be the main adversary on the second season? That remains to be seen, but we do think that the show needs to find an organization or a villain that possesses both the intellectual and physical capabilities to challenge Supergirl. Finding a worthy adversary has to date remained the biggest problem for “Supergirl” as a series, though personally we felt like they could have done more with Indigo in season 1 to get her to that point.
