Crime Dynamic Duos: ‘Chicago PD’ pair Lindsay and Halstead are the 2016 winners!
Throughout the month here at CarterMatt, we’ve asked you to vote for some of your favorite Crime Dynamic Duos — and vote you have! Thousands of votes were tallied, and this proved to be a fun exercise in seeing what relationships you love to see play out between your favorite detectives, private investigators, and other notable pairs in the crime TV genre.
Ultimately, there could only be one, or in this case two winners, and for the 2016 edition of the tournament, we’re pleased to announce that “Chicago PD” couple Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead are the winners! They won this final round in a solid 61% victory over Sharon Raydor and Andy Flynn from “Major Crimes,” who had a really impressive won and scored 39% here. We also want to give some credit to some other notable pairs — Steve and Danny from “Hawaii Five-0” and Walt and Vic from “Longmire” — who each fared well in the tournament this year.
What made this particular fun to us is that all four of the duos listed were not seeded as favorites going in. Lindsay and Halstead were a #4 seed, so they went through some worthy competition to get here. As for why they are so popular, we feel like it’s a combination of things.
1. They’re great at their job – You want to root for people who you consider to be heroes, and these are people who are driven to give their best to protect the city. They work in jobs that are often unheralded, but they don’t care and don’t do the work for the recognition. They do it out of desire and drive.
2. They’re extremely relatable – Neither character has been set up as perfect, and their structure of their relationship is probably why they work so well both professionally and personally. They help each other, they protect each other, and they build each other up in moments of need. They’re flawed, and that’s why they feel like real people.
3. “Chicago PD” is an underdog sort of show – While it may air on a major network, we think one of the reasons why they scored victory in this poll is because there’s still a sentiment that the show doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. That bonds the fan base together in ways you don’t see elsewhere.
In the end, celebrate the win “Chicago PD” fans! We’re going to continue to have some exciting coverage of the show over the coming days, so bookmark this page — and be sure to check out some existing coverage while you’re there.
