‘Luke Cage’ season 2: Renewal hopes (and early ones) for Mike Colter series
Tomorrow, Netflix is set to debut its most-anticipated series arguably since “Stranger Things” in “Luke Cage,” a show that combines the action of “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” with a slightly different setting and perspective. Mike Colter seems perfectly cast for the role, and everything that we’ve seen and heard so far suggests that this is a very entertaining journey that spans several hours of entertainment.
Now, we ponder the inevitable question: Could there be a second season coming up in the future? Of course, this is something that we and many others would like to see happen, especially given that every Marvel – Netflix collaboration so far has resulted in renewals. With that said, we do think it could take some time for it to happen given everything else that is currently on the docket. Think about “The Defenders,” and then also “Jessica Jones” season 2, “Daredevil” season 3, and then also “The Punisher.” This is without even mentioning “Iron Fist,” which will probably premiere at some point fairly early on in the new year.
Suffice it to say, Netflix and Marvel have enough on their plate right now that it will most likely be 2018 at the very earliest before we see more of “Luke Cage” as a solo show. We’re all right with that, mostly because that’s how often we tend to see movie sequels and they prove to be worth the wait.
As soon as there is some further news on a renewal of this show, we’ll have it for you here. We’re just not holding our breath for it happening in the immediate future.
