‘Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’ casts more ‘Supernatural’ favorites
We’ve certainly noticed quite a trend as of late when it comes to the spin-off “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” and it is this: Casting a wide array of “Supernatural” actors for various guest spots. There’s an inherent connection between the two series in Adam Glass. The writer / executive producer has worked on both shows, and he’s been great at recruiting some popular “Supernatural” names over to his new gig.
So far this season, we’d heard that Richard Speight Jr., Osric Chau, and Rob Benedict were all going to have roles on “Beyond Borders,” and per a post on Twitter, Glass confirmed that Jim Beaver (Bobby, how we miss Bobby) and Kim Rhodes (Jody Mills) are going to be appearing on an upcoming episode of the series. Seeing these two together is an exercise in restraining “Supernatural” feels, and it should also be interesting given that this series gives us unlimited potential when it comes to characters.
Unfortunately, the hard part about this news is how long you’re probably going to have to wait in order to see the casting come to fruition on TV. “Beyond Borders” has yet to proclaim an official premiere date, though late February / early March remains the likely window given that around this time, “Code Black” will be coming to a close.
Meanwhile, the new season of “Criminal Minds” proper has a huge episode coming on Tuesday night — the final one featuring Thomas Gibson as series lead. Be prepared for emotions there.
