‘Chicago Justice’ bringing Jon Seda over from ‘Chicago PD’
When “Chicago Justice” premieres on NBC early next year, there is going to be one person within the cast who will have more than a minor connection to the “Chicago PD” family — he will have been a part of it for some time.
Today, it was announced via Deadline that Jon Seda will be transferring his character of Antonio Dawson over from “Chicago PD” to the new spin-off at some point over the course of the season. The sentiment here was that Antonio had reached a point where there was no more room for growth with Intelligence, and as an investigator on this new series, he will have a chance for some further stability on the job.
For “Chicago Justice,” this is absolutely quite the win no matter how you slice it, given that Seda was an exceptional presence on PD and was very popular with fans. Bringing over to the new show gives it an additional boost as it searches for ratings, and at the same time establishes some further connections across the One Chicago universe. Remember for a minute here that Antonio’s sister is a part of “Chicago Fire,” and there have been reports of a cross-show romance between him and Brett of “Chicago Fire,” as well. If the latter element sticks, it gives “Chicago Justice” a chance to have interplay with that show in a way we didn’t expect previously.
