‘Poldark’ episode 2, episode 5 preview: Elizabeth’s secret; George’s latest move

The second season of “Poldark” has brought plenty of drama, and also some predictable plot movements. For example, Caroline’s interest in Dwight has been of note for some time, and we don’t quite think anyone is shocked to see George continuing to find ways to torment Ross. It’s just what the guys does! It’s his calling card, really.

If you are interested in seeing what lies ahead on the BBC series, we think the synopsis below is worth a look:

“An informant in the smuggling ring poses a serious threat to all, and George buys Ross’s debt to finally crush him. Meanwhile, Caroline returns to Cornwall to make an announcement, but it is Elizabeth who reveals a great secret.”

If we were to make an analogy right now when it comes to George, it would be that he is the cartoonish mustache-twirling villain who thinks week in and week out that he has figured out a way to ensure he gets what he wants. However, one way or another it never quite works out for him, and his hopes and dreams blow up in his face. His rivalry with Poldark is already the stuff of legends, and we do think that matters will be escalating significantly long before the start towards a better future.

Based on the preview that aired tonight, the financial follies of the Poldark family are going to take center stage, while at the same time love triangles may have more of a presence than ever. Just remember for a minute that a triangle in this show is somewhat different than it is elsewhere in the TV landscape.
