‘Victoria’ episode 7 preview: The ramifications of pregnancy
We’re starting to enter the home stretch now for “Victoria” on ITV, but at least we can watch the end of this season with a little bit of confidence that it is not the end of the road. The network recently renewed the series for a second season, which will air at some point in the new year presumably.
As for what is coming up next week (we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves here), be sure to take a look at the synopsis below:
“The queen’s pregnancy raises the controversial topic of a possible regency as the drama series about the early reign of Queen Victoria continues. When Victoria names Albert as head of state in case of her death, the Tories are outraged at the prospect of being ruled by a German prince. Albert is determined to exert more influence, however, and proposes a trip to the rapidly industrialising north in an attempt to engage with the public. Victoria agrees, but the trip does not go well. Later, Victoria is furious when Albert visits a railway without her knowledge, but realises the error of her ways when she sees the new invention for herself.”
Basically, what the series continues to do so brilliantly is bring us is some historical facts, some great drama, but also some reminders that these characters are real people. It’s important that the show continues to give us everyday conflict between Albert and Victoria. Many of the viewers have no direct connection to royalty, so with that in mind you have to create some relatability to keep many of them invested. “Victoria” has done a wonderful job so far in producing that for viewers.
