‘Designated Survivor’ episode 2 preview: What’s up next for Kiefer Sutherland, cast?
Earlier this week on ABC, we saw the premiere of “Designated Survivor,” a show that definitely entered the year with a significant amount of hype surrounding it. Want the good news? Well, here it is: So far, the show has matched it! The ratings have been solid, there’s been some positive reviews out there, and we really feel like we’re still at the beginning of this journey.
The fact that next week’s new episode is entitled “The First Day” shows that there are many more adventures still to come, but not all of them will be the pleasant variety for Kiefer Sutherland’s character of President Kirkman. He has the job, but there will be struggles aplenty as he has to convince others that in spite of his past or his position, he is the person who can bring the country back from the abyss. For more, just take a look at the attached synopsis:
“Hours after the attack on the Capitol, President Kirkman steps into his role as Commander-in-Chief in the midst of chaos and confusion. Facing dangerous new challenges and adversaries, Kirkman struggles to hold a country together that is on the brink of falling apart. Virginia Madsen guest stars.”
The promo below is more of a “things coming up all of next season” variety, but we do still appreciate everything that it brings to the table here as we see just how many trials and tribulations lie ahead. We like that we’re seeing a combination here of some of the politics of a “Madam Secretary” with the drama of a “24.” It’s almost like hatchling network TV version of “Homeland,” at least based on the trajectory to date.
