‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6, episode 1 video: Hook and Emma’s unwelcome surprise

If there is one thing that we’ve started to learn about Hook and Emma on “Once Upon a Time,” it’s that these two for one reason or another just can’t find a lot of time to themselves. They’re having to spend it instead continually fighting unknown forces or dealing with mysterious arrivals. For the time being, we don’t know what the latest setback falls into.

In the sneak peek below for Sunday night’s season premiere, you can see the two characters interrupted right in the middle of an intimate moment by an odd rumbling. When they go outside, they get a further sense of precisely how odd this is. It’s yet another complication brought on presumably by the arrival of the Land of Untold Stories, one of the key components in the story this year.

Much like the second half of season 5 (which is in our mind underrated and the best thing the show has done since season 3), it feels like the start of this season will have a season 1 vibe. There are going to be larger stories that last from one week to the next, but also some smaller plots that go for only an episode or two. We like that structure for the show, and we honestly didn’t realize how much we missed it until after it was gone.

Rest assured, we’ll be keeping watch on Hook and Emma’s journey throughout this season. We’d love to see an engagement happen this season, so fingers crossed we get to that!
