‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 spoilers: First news on premiere, Stephen Amell appearance

LegendsThe second season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” will be coming aboard The CW on Thursday, October 13, and today, the network released some of their first details about the premiere episode “Out of Time.” The story is going to take shape in the aftermath of what happened at the end of season 1, and we’re going to get a chance to see an important new character in Dr. Nate Heywood almost right away.

The synopsis below is lengthy, but we’re somewhat appreciative of that since there is a lot to set up here — including an appearance from Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen:

“After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the exposure of the corrupt Time Masters, a new threat emerges. Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action

“Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action. After making a shocking discovery, Nate seeks out Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) for help in finding the scattered Legends. Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences.

“Their first stop is 1942, to protect Albert Einstein from being kidnapped before the Nazis destroy New York City with a nuclear bomb. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) notices that Sara (Caity Lotz) has a mission of her own, which leads them both to face her nemesis, Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough).”

It’s pretty easy to figure out now while Sara would want to go through time and destroy Darhk, mostly because she holds so much anger and ill will towards him because of what happened during “Arrow” season 4 with Laurel Lance. We know that McDonough will be appearing throughout the season, as he will be a component in the evil Legion of Doom, the Big Bads at the center of the story.
