‘The Blacklist’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss on state of Red – Liz relationship
The fourth season of “The Blacklist” is going to be premiering on NBC Thursday night, and judging from what we’re hearing right now, the show is not losing any of its complicated identity as we move further and further into the era of Alexander Kirk. During the season 3 finale, we learned that he was supposedly the father if Liz Keen … who was in turn still alive.
So where is the story going now that we know the truth about her, especially in terms of Reddington’s reaction to her faking her own death? In preparation for the premiere, show executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said the following to TV Guide:
“I think it’s a real yin and yang, their relationship. Liz has faked her death to get away from Reddington, and to start her family and to try to have a fresh life, this idyllic life that she’s been grasping for since we met her in the pilot of this series. So, by virtue of the fact that she fakes her death to get away from him, you can rest assured that there will be conflict between the two of them in how they move forward, how Red accepts this or doesn’t accept it, and what it means for the two of him. But I think it’s safe to say that they in some way are going to have to find a way to push forward and continue to go out and solve those cases, and work together.”
Ultimately, the interesting thing about these characters is that really in spite of whether the two of them like it, they will continue to be in one another’s lives. They just have to prepare for that, and in turn deal potentially with the consequences of their actions. So long as they are still working together, we are ultimately going to be happy.
