Cable Ratings: ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ ‘Power’ season 3 feel no impact from the Emmys
On Sunday, the Primetime Emmy Awards ushered in some of their lowest ratings to date, a sign that while awards shows may be interesting to some, there are others who will just look up the results after the fact and be done with it.
What’s the most interesting to us is that this show, coupled with NFL football airing now on Sundays, seem to be having almost no impact at all on some of the biggest cable shows currently on the air. Take a look at some of the latest ratings.
“Power” season 3 – Trying to assess live ratings for this show are difficult, given that people with the Starz app often get to watch early and it also has heavy DVR playback. Still, Sunday’s episode drew 2.04 million viewers, the third-highest total of the entire season. The show is averaging over 1.9 million viewers for the season, and for those who are interested, a 0.9 in the demo. (Since Starz is not ad-supported, we don’t care as much about the demo.)
“Fear the Walking Dead” season 2 – For the second straight week following a series-worst outing, the AMC drama continues to improve. Sunday’s episode scored a 1.6 rating in the demo and also 3.62 million viewers. While the show certainly has seen better days in the ratings, this is further evidence that NFL fans in particular are not sharing much of the same audience as the zombie drama — at least in terms of people watching live.
With some more new episodes coming this weekend, including the “Power” finale, we’ll be very much invested in sharing more of the latest updates!
