‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ season 11, episode 16 review: Kelly Dodd vs everyone
Last time on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” things took a very ugly turn when Kelly Dodd made some below the belt comments about Tamra’s relationship with her daughter. We also heard Tamra hit Kelly inside the store which is something we haven’t seen too often on the housewives series, but has happened before. After Porsha hit Kenya on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” she came under fire for her actions in a big way, so we have to wonder if the same will happen to Tamra. We have even seen severe consequences come down for hitting and kicking on scripted shows like “Criminal Minds” as lead actor Thomas Gibson was fired from the show this season after kicking a writer. Let’s see if there’s any fall out here.
The ladies spent the day split up into two groups: Kelly and Meghan talked to strangers looking for Meghan’s relatives while the rest went to a farm to milk cows that provide the cream for the Bailey’s liquor. Later the ladies all met up for a dinner and initially the ladies all bonded together, except for Kelly who is feeling like a bit of an outsider after her comment about Tamra’s daughter. Kelly gives Tamra a sincere apology in front of all the ladies, but what she said cut to the bone and Tamra’s not sure if she can forgive her right now as the situation is too sensitive and still too fresh.
Tamra tries to spend the rest of the trip avoiding Kelly, but their last night in Ireland dinner has all of the ladies together. At the dinner Shannon is really pushing booze on Kelly. We heard Kelly decline having anymore liquor to Heather and to Shannon and no one listened to her. The ladies have seen that when Kelly drinks she’s not always able to control what she says, so why is anyone pushing Kelly to drink when she has said no multiple times?
Kelly feels that the ladies are ganging up on her to get her drunk so she will snap and after seeing Shannon sneak up to the waiter and tell him to make all of the ladies drinks doubles, we are wondering what the agenda is ourselves. Is it to just have a fun last night or is there really more to it?
Five hours later after dinner, Vicki and Kelly come to Tamra’s door asking her to come drinking with them and she refused to answer the door. Kelly goes to bed and Shannon, Tamra and Heather decide to go for a drink in the pub. Tamra texts Vicki to tell her to come to the pub, but not to bring Kelly and while Vicki doesn’t want to leave Kelly out, she wants to keep her other friendships going after such a rocky year.
Vicki tells Tamra some things that Kelly has been saying about her, so she takes a selfie with Vicki down at the bar and sends it to Kelly – a definite stirring the pot move. Kelly meets the ladies in the hallway and it erupts into a huge fight. Once they all get into the van to go to the airport the insults start to get really personal again. When Vicki won’t stand up for Kelly again, she feels it’s the last straw of their friendship.
We have to say that the best moment of the episode for us was seeing Mrs Fancy Pants Heather Dubrow carrying around a flask of Fireball. Shouldn’t it be filled with champs? We will mark this on the list of things we never thought we would see, but glad we did. The fighting this season is a little too personal for our liking and has left us feeling a bit weird after the episode airs. Where’s the lavish fun? Episode grade: B-
