‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ season 11, episode 15 review: Did Kelly Dodd go too far with Tamra Judge?
Last time on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” we saw Shannon putting on a good face and showing the ladies that she has moved on from her fight with Vicki. Now that everyone seems to be getting along, the ladies will be taking a trip to Ireland to dive into Meghan’s ancestry. We are always a sucker for a good “Real Housewives” trip since they are always at some gorgeous, exotic locale!
When the ladies get to their hotel in Ireland it’s all class all the way. They are greeted with a signature cocktail (Champs and Guinness), the rooms are lavish and Vicki receives a huge bouquet of roses from Steve the policeman that includes a note declaring his love for her. The ladies really like Steve and so far we do too – Vicki deserves a win in the romance department. We watched the ladies do every Irish thing they could think of including looking for leprechauns, trying out their Irish accents and pub crawling. Tamra promised to not drink much on this trip because of her upcoming show, but with Vicki there as her booze pusher, there was no stopping this from happening.
When there’s booze involved with the ladies, the drama is never far behind. Kelly is bombed (like everyone else) and is finding flicking people’s noses really funny for some reason, but no one else is enjoying the joke. Tamra says something to Kelly about it and the conversation goes from 0 to 60… which always happens when the women are drinking. It later escalates into something more with Kelly talking about other people’s backgrounds (which is always a touchy subject), and then she calls Tamra out for not being able to keep a secret… which she responds by telling a secret that Kelly told her, saying that Kelly had a real estate agent check out how much Heather still owes on her lot. Kelly denies that she ever did that, calling Tamra a liar. As it turns out Kelly did admit in a confessional that she did learn this information out through her friend who allegedly loaned the Dubrow’s money for their lot because they couldn’t afford it, but that she never went digging for the information and that’s what she’s upset about.
As we have seen in the past, when Kelly is drunk and angry she hits below the belt and this time she says “no wonder her daughter doesn’t talk to her” talking about Tamra’s relationship with her daughter. Very hurtful stuff. When Tamra hears what Kelly said, a fight erupts off camera and we hear Kelly talking about getting hit by Tamra, but don’t see it. What we do see is Tamra having a nervous break down on the bus and sobbing her heart out in Shannon’s arms. As the women all come at Kelly for what she said, Vicki has walked away from this situation. She is comforting Tamra the best she can, and Kelly feels betrayed by Vicki not standing up for her when she was there for Vicki when she was the outcast.
We have to say that it was really nice to see all of the ladies together and enjoying themselves since it’s been a really long time since that has happened. Last season tore this group apart and while there has been some heavy drama at the beginning of this season, it was nice to take a breath and see some more of their fun sides. We knew it couldn’t last with all the drinking they were doing, but we got a good amount of fun time before it all went to pot. Episode grade: B
