‘The Good Wife’ spin-off: Further details hint at major underdog story
Earlier today we posted some of the first details on the upcoming spin-off series for “The Good Wife” coming to CBS All Access, and one of the things that was the most interesting about it was learning that the show had carved out a major role for Sarah Steele, who played Eli Gold’s daughter Marissa.
Now, we’re lucky enough to have a few more details on precisely what sort of role she is going to be playing in the story. Per Deadline, Marissa will land a job as Diane Lockhart’s secretary, but eventually will learn along the way that she is really best suited for a career as a potential investigator.
As for where Diane is working … its not at her old firm. After a financial scandal erupts involving a young lawyer that causes her to lose a great deal of her savings, Diane ends up joining a different firm, one that already counts Lucca Quinn as an employee. These characters already have a history together, but there should be something very fun about seeing them in a new setting with a little bit of time removed from the finale.
This spin-off is going to premiere on CBS at some point in February of next year, and following that, the remainder of the season will come to the All Access platform exclusively. Think of this as a smart way for the network to try to lure viewers into becoming subscribers; given that cast that is assembled here, it definitely seems like there is a chance at high-quality entertainment.
