‘Fargo’ season 3 spoilers: Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins cast
To date, finding out details about “Fargo” season 3 has been akin to pulling teeth. FX remains coy in giving out plot details, and before today, “The Leftovers” actress Carrie Coon and “Star Wars” alum Ewan McGregor was the only confirmed cast member — even if the latter was playing two roles.
Today, we are at least happy to report that the network is getting a little more information out there, as they have announced that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is set to play the role of Nikki Swango. She is described as “a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing. Nikki is a woman with a plan, focused on always being at least one move ahead of her opponents.”
While this may not give you everything you probably need to know about the character for the story to make sense, we’ll take getting this tease easily over not having anything to go on at all. One of the reasons for the slow casting process is simply because this is a show very much dependent on the weather to film. It simply has not been cold enough to film, so that has allowed Noah Hawley time to cultivate the latest chapter of the series.
The biggest thing worth noting as of right now is that season 3 is the most contemporary edition of the show yet, and given that it does take place after season 1, we presume it is possible that a familiar face or two could stop by — though that certainly has not been confirmed.
