‘The Catch’ season 2: ‘Suits’ actress Gina Torres set for significant role
With “The Catch” coming back for season 2 in the new year, it appears that the ABC drama has just landed a pretty marquee name to add to its cast.
According to a report from TVLine, Gina Torres is coming on board the series in a significant recurring role — but in true Shondaland fashion, not much else is known at present. (Warning: Spoilers for “Suits” season 6 ahead.)
It shouldn’t be much of a coincidence at all that this casting news comes almost immediately after Torres was written out of “Suits” during the summer finale, as Jessica Pearson made the move to depart her firm and head to Chicago with Jeff Malone. The “Firefly” alum had asked to move on, citing a personal desire to be close to Los Angeles. (“Suits” films in Toronto; “The Catch” seems to suit her interests perfectly given that it films in the Los Angeles area.)
In addition to playing Pearson, Torres is probably best known for playing Zoe on the brilliant-but-canceled “Firefly.” Hopefully, at some point before the second season premieres we’re going to have a chance to learn a little bit more information on whoever she ends up playing.
Meanwhile, “Suits” season 6 will return with new episodes at some point in the new year, and while Gina may no longer be a regular, there is still a chance that you could see the character return in some capacity down the road. It’s just something to look out for.
