‘Beauty and the Beast’: Could a season 5 ever happen?
As we’re starting to stare the “Beauty and the Beast” finale in the face on The CW Thursday night it makes some sense as to if there would be some further questions on the future of the show.
Take, for example, this rather-simple question: Is it possible that, at some point in the faraway future, we could get a season 5 for the show in some form? In a way, we understand the question. As viewers of shows that we like, we’re ultimately insatiable and we’re always going to be wanting more of something we really enjoy. This show is something that inspires the inner romantic in all of us, and as a result of that we’re really not surprised at all that the idea of a season 5 would inspire great excitement.
Of course, there is a difference between fan excitement and something actually coming to fruition, and for the time being, we cannot exactly say with confidence that we think that a reneal is going to happen. One of the big issues that the show is going to run into here is that the ratings weren’t exactly great for the final season, just as the ratings were not exactly great for the majority of the series, either. There’s not a lot of a financial incentive for The CW to bring the series back, even if we would love to see it happen.
Also, there’s also the creative issue of what you bring the show back for. It’s possible that after tonight’s series finale, we don’t necessarily need any more of the series, even if it would be great to see it happen.
So in the end, we’re not holding our breath for any more of the show — even if we’d be thrilled to see it. For the most part, we’re just grateful that we had a chance to have the journey that we did over the course of the past several years. We’ll be grateful for that even if we’ve reached the final chapter of Cat and Vincent’s story.
