‘The Punisher’ spoilers: Ben Barnes signs on in mysterious role

At the moment, Netflix has not released many details on their upcoming version of “The Punisher,” and it is fairly easy to understand why. They have “Luke Cage” coming at the end of the month, and all signs point to them wanting that to be the focus for at least the time being. Following that, there is also “Iron Fist” to think about for the near future, and them maybe “The Defenders” after that. There’s no precise time-table for precisely when the show is going to be on the air.

For the time being, however, we can say this: Jon Bernthal is going to have some interesting company whenever his solo series does air. According to a new report from TVLine, Ben Barnes of “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” is going to be cast on the Netflix series in a role that has not been officially revealed. There are rumors per the site that he could be playing the upstart criminal Bobby Saint on the series, but that has not been confirmed as of yet.

What we would assume, at least per some of the materials out there, is that this series will prove once again to be every bit as violent as “Daredevil” season 2 was when the Punisher character was first introduced. Personally, it’s a thrill to see him land his own solo show mostly from the vantage point of there being a lot of material that is out there, and we’re not sure a feature film alone would be able to cover it.
