‘Vice Principals’ finale spoilers: Will Neal Gamby, Lee Russell stop Belinda Brown?
Tonight, “Vice Principals” is bringing to HBO the penultimate episode of the season, and with that, we’re moving ever closer to what could be the endgame … at least for now. Next week’s episode is the finale for at least the summer; there are nine more episodes of the series to come, and based on all evidence that we’ve seen, they will be considered season 2 rather than an extension of the first go-around.
Unfortunately, we don’t have too many specifics to share when it comes to the synopsis for the finale; after all, what it gives you can be viewed in some ways as an assumption based on the journey that the show has taken us on this season:
“Gamby (Danny McBride) and Russell (Walton Goggins) play their end game with Dr. Brown (Kimberly Hébert Gregory).”
Is it possible that the show gives us a cliffhanger? We have to assume so, but given that this is a comedy we don’t necessarily think that there is any major guarantee of that, either. They may opt instead to go in the direction of simply making a funny half-hour of television. The irony here, though, is that over the course of this season, Neal has actually built a pretty decent relationship with Dr. Brown, and in the process also found someone in Amanda Snodgrass who has an interest in him. If it meant throwing everything away that he has built, would he still want the principal position? Based on what we saw tonight, he’s certainly willing to go there.
