NBC’s ‘The Voice’ video: Miley Cyrus on country stand-off with Blake Shelton

The Voice -

Sometimes, we’re not so fond of the various “The Voice” videos that come out that are strictly corny, and don’t really bring anything new to the table in terms of entertainment or insight. We know that these coaches and the show can offer more than that!

With that in mind, we’re very much thrilled with the one that NBC put out this week regarding a standoff-of-sorts between Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton. What’s the biggest reason for that? Well, much of it stems from the fact that it brings us something that we had not thought about previously.

Through the entirety of “The Voice” so far, Blake has had an enormous advantage when it comes to snagging almost every single country artist that he wants: He’s the only one who knows the genre. He’s successful in the genre, so the general thought here is that if you want the best chance at a relevant career in country, you have to go #TeamBlake.

However, Miley states in the video below that she provides a really good alternative, and much of it comes from her own experience with the genre. She may not be a country singer these days, but she has dabbled in it here and there and her father of course is all about it. Also, she’s got huge ties to Nashville and grew up listening to the music. She offers a lot to people looking to go a more non-traditional route, especially those who want to try country-pop or extend themselves beyond just what is expected.

We’re not sure that Miley’s knowledge in country will play much of a role at all, but we’re definitely excited to find out when “The Voice” officially starts to air regular episodes on Monday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
