‘Empire’ season 3 promo brings you latest Cookie / Lucious drama

The third season of “Empire” will be coming your way shortly, and the one thing we know based on the latest promo is this: The show still wants to embrace the relationship between Cookie and Lucious Lyon as much as possible, even if it is just as dysfunctional as ever.

There’s a reason why fans like the two so much: They have a magnetic charm and a passion for what they do, and that’s what brought them together in the first place. The problem is that they’ve also got some serious problems in that they can never really see past some of what they’ve been through. It weights over them, and anytime that it starts to look like the two are going to get better it comes bouncing back like some sort of odd specter hovering over them.

This coming season, there’s a chance that we will get to see a little bit of romantic drama for Lucious and Cookie as the two deal with the presence of a politician (Taye Diggs) who tries to wield some of his power and influence around Empire Entertainment. He seems to have some sort of an interest in her, while she definitely has an interest in trying to make Lucious jealousy. That, could with her new take on “by, Felicia,” have to be considered the real highlights of this promo. It’s fairly short, after all, and Fox doesn’t seem altogether interested for now in focusing on some of the larger drama of the season. (It’s hard to when you’ve got a huge cliffhanger like what happened with Anika and Rhonda to resolve.)
