‘Luke Cage’ video: Making Amos famous

In preparation of its September 30 premiere, Netflix has released the latest sneak peek for Marvel’s “Luke Cage.” If there is one thing that we can say about this as an immediate reaction, it is this: AWESOME. Seriously, this is the sort of clip that gets your blood pumping and your hands clapping, given that it is precisely the sort of thing that you would want to see from an adaptation of the famous comic.

In terms of story, this doesn’t give a whole lot away about what to expect, though to be fair we also didn’t expect a whole lot. There’s not really any incentive for the show to give anything major away. What we have here more so than anything else is Luke kicking butt and taking names, while at the same time also proving the full length of his powers. The guy basically broke a fist with his face! Poor Amos — though we do love a good Famous Amos cookie joke.

Part of the interesting challenge of this show creatively moving forward is probably going to come out of establishing some drama and a worthy adversary for a guy who looks pretty impossible to defeat right now. When almost nothing can stop you, what does it look like when something can? We’re coming into this as someone not as familiar with this character as we are some other comic-book heroes, so we look forward to learning a little bit more about him on the fly.
