‘Supernatural’ season 12: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki look ahead to 300-episode milestone
There aren’t exactly too many shows out there that have a chance to get to 300 episodes. However, “Supernatural” could be one of them depending on if the current trajectory and ratings hold.
With where the show is now, they would need to make it thirteen episodes into season 14 to get to this point — and if they did decide to end the show, doing so with a thirteen-episode final season could be the way to go. For now, though, the show’s cast is mostly just invested in trying to keep their options open. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly as a part of their new cover story, Jensen Ackles made it clear that he is looking at 300 right now as the next goal:
“In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, wherever that might be … And 300’s a good number to work for.”
Meanwhile, Jared Padalecki added the following:
“If we don’t make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed. When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There’s a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we’re going to make it to 300.”
Of course, we’d love to see the show make it to 400 episodes, but at the same time, it feels silly and rather crazy to start getting greedy when you’re looking at one of the longest-running shows ever in the science fiction / fantasy genre already. With that, let’s just be grateful for the show as we have it, and then we’ll cross the bridge to the future when we get there.
