‘Zoo’ season 2 finale reaction: James Wolk on Robert Oz’s big move
The second season of “Zoo” was basically one big wallop of surprises after another, whether it be the death of Davies, Mitch supposedly dying, the animals being cured, and then Robert Oz making the entire world into “Children of Men” where everyone is suddenly sterile. The whole thing was completely nuts, but probably the right sort of nuts given that it was perfectly in line with everything that we know about this show already.
Of course, coming out of the finale we do think that, even more so than Mitch possibly being alive, Robert’s decision is what people are going to talk about. For James Wolk, he was able to share his (and Jackson’s) perspective on it to Entertainment Weekly:
“I think [Jackson] thinks his dad is completely out of his mind. It’s reassuring to him that his father didn’t mean to harm him or his mother, but I think it’s completely alarming that he meant to sterilize the human race. It just reinforces what a nut he was in Jackson’s mind. And thanks to that totally insane plan, we catch up with Abe and Dariela 10 years later when the human race is well on its way to extinction, and it seems like the team isn’t exactly fighting against that future.”
Ultimately, this move by Robert sets up a really insane premise for season 3, one that could be amplified further by the continuance of some animal attacks that are out there. We have no idea what in the world this show will look like moving forward, but we’re certainly happy to find out next summer.
