‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: Katie Cassidy will appear in premiere episode

Given that the fifth-season premiere of “Arrow” is one entitled “Legacy,” it really only makes some sense that we’d see a familiar face to boot turn up who is a significant part of the show’s lineage.

While we assumed that we’d get at some some footage of Laurel Lance in the episode (given that there is the matter of what she told Oliver Queen prior to her death to attend to), we weren’t quite sure that there would be anything in the way of new footage. However, Katie Cassidy confirmed (per ComicBook.com) while at the Salt Lake City Comic-Con that she is going to make some sort of important appearance during the first episode:

“[Coming] up, you will see me in the premiere of Arrow, Season 5. Pretty exciting. And I will also be—they announced at Comic Con, which I’m safe to say—across all three shows: Flash, Legends, and Arrow, for this next year. So, I’m excited about that.”

The larger question there is precisely how this role will play out. Given that the Lazarus Pit was destroyed after Sara was brought back, it seems impossible to have the character as constituted back from the dead. Yet, maybe you can argue that there is a Flashpoint version of her still alive, or you will see an Earth-3 incarnation out there somewhere. We’ve already met her Earth-2 counterpart courtesy of the villain Black Siren, who wrecked a little bit of havoc near the end of “The Flash” season 2 before the final showdown between Barry Allen and Zoom.
