‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Carrie Underwood

There’s no gig happening yet.

Since there is some sad news that is coming in as a part of our Wednesday “American Idol” notes, we may as well lead off with this.

No solo shows for Jessica Sanchez yet – After a number of major media outlets in the Philippines announced that the season 11 runner-up was going to be performing in a five-city tour of her mother’s home country, we were comfortable enough to add the story to our own notes. Unfortunately, it’s now turning out to not be the case — at least for now.

In a post on Twitter Thursday afternoon, Jessica’s management at 19 Entertainment denied the reports, and reasserted that the only concert currently scheduled for Jessica in the Philippines is with the tour on September 21. We regret getting anyone prematurely excited about a concert series that doesn’t appear to be happening, but we also wouldn’t rule it out at some point in the near future.

Logically, it would make the most sense for Jessica to come back for a series of shows once she has released her debut album, and will really have some original music to perform versus just a series of covers.

We’ll have more on this story if more information comes out.

Phillip Phillips attends tour rehearsal – As for another noteworthy season 11 contestant, Phillip is getting himself ready to be back on stage as soon as possible following some kidney surgery. In a post on her Twitter, Erika Van Pelt confirmed that the reigning champ showed up for rehearsals with a rather funny message:

“Next time you want to mess with Elise and I, try not to look like a predator creeping behind a four door sedan in a dark lot ;-)”

Phillip’s first post-surgery appearance is set to come during a PBS special on July 4, and he will start up with the tour just days later.

Another Carrie Underwood video – Finally, we’ll close off with an appearance by Carrie Underwood on the British chat show “Loose Women” that comes just before her performance at the Royal Albert Hall later this week.

In addition to a sit-down interview with the show’s hosts, Carrie also took the stage in order to perform her new single “Blown Away.” Enjoy in the video below.

As always, be sure to check back for more “American Idol” notes!
