‘America’s Got Talent’ lineup: What Sofie Dossi, Viktor Kee, Brian Justin Crum should do next
Given that the lineup of performers for Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent” show should be fairly predictable (there are only eleven more acts currently on the roster), we’re doing something a little bit different with this article: We’re offering some advice! While there are some favorites, which we will identify in our rankings article tomorrow, every act remaining has something they can do in order to bolster their chances moving forward.
Who knows? Maybe some of these acts are already using some of these techniques as they prepare for the most integral performance of the show so far.
Steven Brundage – Either go beyond the Rubik’s Cube, or come up with a bigger innovation regarding it that neither we nor the judges can predict. With two other magic acts in this particular show, all of them have to raise the game in some way.
The Clairvoyants – Bring even more twists to the table. They may be in the best spot of the three acts in this variety, but they need to do even more things that are unexpected. The idea here is to make everyone assume you are going in one direction with your trick, only to then turn it around and leave jaws on the floor.
Kadan Bart Rockett – Really emphasize the fun. We’re not sure this act can create a spectacle like the Clairvoyants, but Kadan can really play up the cheekiness and humor that comes with being a kid on this show.
Viktor Kee – Really play up the production, the lights, and the emotion. The Passing Zone is going to go for comedy with their juggling, so he has to go in the complete opposite direction and deliver something unforgettable from a visual standpoint.
The Passing Zone – Basically, play up more of the danger element of their act, and incorporate more jugging. The “people juggling” bit is fun, but we feel like superficially, it may not be as impressive as everything else they’ve done. Given that they are wild-cards in the first place, they really have nothing to lose here.
Sofie Dossi – Have an opening that is as electric as the bow-and-arrow stunt at the end. She needs another signature move, whether it be a creative use of contortionist or some other bizarre feat no one has seen before. At this point, foot archery isn’t enough.
Brian Justin Crum – Really forge an emotional connection with the crowd. We all know that he’s one of the season’s best singers, so our feeling is to start his next song small and intimate before getting to the big notes at the end.
Calysta Bevier – Put a spin on something contemporary that works for her voice. While we think she has a good shot at making it to the next round, her ideal next move at this point should really be working to get a recording career after the show.
Linkin’ Bridge – Get a better spot on the show? We’re joking somewhat, since we absolutely loved what the guys did last time and don’t understand why they needed a Save to even be there. Really, they should just stay true to themselves and hope for a little bit more good fortune from the voters.
Jayna Brown – We don’t often hand out this advice, but she’s going to need a song that is a real vocal tour de force, something that shows everything that she can do like a big ballad. Just don’t let it be something like “I Have Nothing” that doesn’t suit her age. If she doesn’t really emphasize her ability, there’s a chance she will disappear in the sea of singers on the night.
Kadie Lynn Roberson – Go pure country, and chose a fairly-contemporary song that the majority of her base knows. If you can get all of the country voters on your side, other singers may cancel each other out.
