‘The Amazing Race Canada 4’ episode 10 preview: Jillian & Emmett take a risk

Jillian and Emmett -

Going into this season of “The Amazing Race Canada,” we feel like most people expected Jillian & Emmett to do really well. Just consider for a moment the resume that they entered this game with. They were fairly dominant on “Big Brother Canada” season 1, especially when it comes to winning competitions based on athletic ability.

Have they surpassed those expectations here? They’re at least coming close, given that they’ve won more legs than anyone, and while they have been combustible at times, we’ve certainly seen hot-and-cold teams win before. (Rachel & Dave on “The Amazing Race” USA fought constantly, and won more legs than anyone in history.)

Unfortunately for Jillian & Emmett, none of their success matters if they lose the race in the end, and coming into Tuesday night’s new episode, signs point to them being in at least a little bit of danger. In the new sneak peek that you can see over at this link, Emmett makes a decision in St. John that could shatter their chances. Rather than driving right up to a location (he cannot find the way to get over it), he decides to mark the car and have them run the distance over to it.

Is it possible that this saves them a few minutes? On paper, sure, but what happens if it takes far longer to run over to it than it appears on paper? One other interesting facet to this is that Jillian apparently managed to find new shoes after losing one last week, but they are two sizes too small and incredibly uncomfortable. Basically, this decision and her discomfort could put the two at odds — and fast.

Still, this isn’t the sort of decision that dooms the entire race; everyone else would have to run perfect legs for that to be the case.
