Is ‘Ballers’ season 2, episode 8 new tonight? What’s next after Spencer Strasmore crisis

The second season of “Ballers” has been funny at times and compelling at others, but moving into the final episodes of the season, we’re seeing a more dramatic side of the series that we haven’t quite seen just yet.

The series has really taken its time getting to the fall of Spencer Strasmore, but we’re officially there in many different ways. For one, his drug problem is now officially out of hand, Joe has realized that he’s largely broke, and he does not even have a license to do much of the business needed with the players’ union. His past problems are effectively coming home to roost.

The bad news is that there is no new episode airing tonight on HBO, meaning that you are going to have to wait until September 11 in order to see the series continue. The good news, meanwhile, is that not everything will be lost for Spencer. While we were somewhat worried that he and Joe may not have any future together, the character does turn up in the promo for next week’s episode (which you can view here).

On the flip side, is Spencer going to be so desperate for money that he’ll look towards Ricky Jerret for help?

One other complication that we could see from Ricky’s vantage point in this episode is trying to contend with what the bottom line dictates (him accepting a lucrative offer from the Rams) or accepting a deal with the Miami Dolphins, one that Charles worked overtime in order to orchestrate.
