‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: See first (official) photo of Tyler Hoechlin, Melissa Benoist in-character

Sure, there have been some photos released of Superman to date from the upcoming second season of “Supergirl,” but for the most part they have been either the image above, which is a gallery shot not really in context with the rest of the show, or ones taken by members of the paparazzi around the new Vancouver set.

Well, we’ve got the first official photo below from the CW series (via Entertainment Weekly), and we do have to say that this imagine definitely feels like it is a little bit more in line with the Superman we expect. It was hard to get a real sense of his presence from the angle of the photo above, but Hoechlin feels much more at home as the character here. Plus, we like the costume a little bit better when we’re seeing the red in it without the odd sort of filter.

Does it still take getting used to? Sure, given that we still have no idea what the belt is really for, other than keeping the costume from looking like a onesie. Ye,t we like the large Coat of Arms, the cape, and even Tyler’s facial expression. It all seems to work.

We will be seeing Superman over the course of at least the first couple of episodes of season 2. While the future beyond that is not entirely clear, we are excited to see how the show highlights not only his presence, but also his relationship with Kara, someone who has only been a public hero for a small percentage of her time on Earth.
