‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Kid Cudi replaced by Romeo Miller
Even though the third season of “Empire” is not going to be premiering on Fox until we get around until later this month, there are already some interesting storylines forming behind the scenes. This time around, we’re specifically talking from a casting point of view.
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, rapper Kid Cudi has been replaced by Romeo Miller (formerly known as Lil’ Romeo) for the upcoming role as Gram, a performer and rival to Hakeem, on a series of upcoming episodes this season. Apparently there was some footage that was already filmed of Cudi in this role, and the change is happening as a result of “creative differences.” That probably means more work on production since they’ll likely have to go back and reshoot some of the original scenes.
More than anything, what we want for the upcoming season is for Hakeem to find some sort of success, and have it be a little bit more independent on anything else that is going on with his father. Having a rival could in some ways push him to be better, fight for more, and establish more of his own identity and his brand. In the end, we would certainly consider this to be far and away a net positive.
Hopefully, there are going to be no more recastings that turn up at any point over the coming weeks, and that all of the other news that we have to report on moving forward is strictly of the regular casting variety. Stay tuned…
