‘Sherlock’ season 4: New still features Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman front and center
As of right now, we all have the misfortune of being stuck in another “Sherlock” hiatus. At least if nothing else, the folks over at PBS are doing what they can to help gets us through it.
If you look both above and below, you can see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as their characters Holmes and Watson, looking sleek, stylish, and ready for whatever comes ahead for them. After the last special “The Abominable Bride” thrust the two into the past (at least via Holmes’ dreamscape), the new season is going to throw us right back into the contemporary setting, where we will have a chance to see more cases, villains, and interesting questions. It’s the “Sherlock” you love.
There are three, presumably ninety-minute episodes in this new season, and we anticipate them premiering at some point in the new year. You better enjoy them, given that there is no telling precisely when more episodes of the series are coming after they air — if they do at all. This has always been a fear with “Sherlock” given the actors’ busy schedules; it’s really quite remarkable that we’ve gotten as many seasons as we have, all things considered. It just goes to show the devotion to the roles, and the fun that likely goes into playing them.
Rest assured, the game is on once more! We imagine that more will be revealed in the months ahead, and we will have more news published on that as it starts to come out.
