‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Phylicia Rashad signs up
We all know that “Empire” does love to bring in known names into the universe. With that in mind, simply consider this to be the latest example of that.
Sources have confirmed that “The Cosby Show” alum Phylicia Rashad has been cast for the upcoming third season, and The Hollywood Reporter claims that she will be playing a prominent woman named Diana Dubois who just happens to come from a very powerful family in New York. She is the mother of Taye Diggs’ character of Angelo Dubois, a city councilman intent on trying to change things, and she wants to do everything that she can in order to ensure that he gets everything that he wants … and that includes a higher position of authority. Based on everything we’re hearing right now, to call her ambitious would be making a gross understatement.
Rashad will spend a little bit of time interacting with Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, and we certainly believe that this could be fun.
In the end, we imagine that this will be one of the most interesting castings of the new season, mostly because it ties back to a story that has already been set up and could have a large role in everything that transpires. If we are a little critical of some castings with this show, it is mostly because they feel a little bit more like an extension thrown in there for the cake of having a particular star on board.
The new season is mere weeks away from premiering, so you better believe we’ll have some further scoop soon! Stay tuned…
