‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 2, episode 9 review: Madison’s story; Ofelia’s fear

Fear -Last week on “Fear the Walking Dead,” we saw the beginnings of the story of Nick following his separation from the group. We also met Luciana, and a new group of people who have a similar philosophy on death to that of his own. It’s certainly fascinating stuff, and it adds more to this character to see him with other people.

However, over the course of this episode Nick felt danger as a result of his actions, and a reminder that while he may share some things with these newcomers, that doesn’t mean they are all one and the same. The pharmacist guy may clearly take the cake for being one of the creepiest pharmacist guys we’ve seen anywhere — and there have been some creepy ones here and there we’ve seen.

Meanwhile, Strand and company eventually helped Madison realize that their search for Nick was fruitless in its present form, and they took a different approach — one that led them to a place that was not as quiet as it first seen. What happened here with the walkers was eventually crazy, and a lot of fun to watch unfold (just not fun for the characters).

What was a little more surprising was the admission of chemistry between Strand and Madison, that at least in another circumstance, who knows what would have happened?

In the end, we do think that what we saw with Nick and Madison’s storylines this week further evidence that “Fear the Walking Dead” is continuing to improve itself. In putting these characters out in the opening, you’re giving them further opportunities to explore the world. Meanwhile, the ending gave us enough fear that Ofelia could be in serious danger of going before Daniel Salazar returns someday to the series. Do you really think that guy is dead? Episode Grade: B+.
