‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: Entering ‘Dark Waters’
Sometimes, a little bit of context goes a long way, and we certainly think this is the case when it comes to this particular “Once Upon a Time” – episode title article.
When executive producer Adam Horowitz first announced a couple of days ago that the title for the sixth episode of the season was “Dark Waters,” it was hard to have much of an impression about it beyond a shrug / a hope that this could be some sort of Captain Hook story.
Now that we know that Captain Nemo is coming aboard and the character was just cast, it’s not exactly hard to put two and two together: “Dark Waters” is obviously a reference to “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” the story from which this character is famous. It makes sense for this to be his episode, or at least his first once since there is always a chance that the character could come back.
In general, most early indications are for now that this series is taking most of its nods at the moment the first two seasons of the show, and will be focusing accordingly on a series of individual stories involving many of the characters from the Land of Untold Stories and elsewhere. There will be a larger arc, but getting to know so many different people, like we did during the earlier seasons, was a big part of its appeal from the get-go.
