‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: Exec on Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman

Superman -There are a wide array of different reasons as to why you should be excited for the second season of “Supergirl” to launch on The CW, but the biggest one has to be the opportunity that we’re going to get to finally see Superman on the show! Tyler Hoechlin of “Teen Wolf” fame is playing the character, and we’ve heard that he will be an important part of at least the first couple of episodes of the season.

As for what the show’s approach to the part will be, it’s fairly clear that this is not just some generic origin story. As executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Collider, the upcoming adaptation of the story should be interesting because Clark is coming into this with a level of experience that Kara simply does not have at present:

“I think our take on him is probably something a little bit more traditional. There’s certainly a little bit of the “Aw shucks” about him, but he’s been Superman for awhile, so there’s a savviness about him as Superman and as Clark. If he’s been Superman for 12 years, that also means that he’s been Clark Kent for 12 years. He knows how to interview somebody. He knows how to get a story out of someone.”

Kreisberg also says that Calista Flockhart will be appearing as Cat Grant over the first two episodes, and they were thrilled to have her because of fears that they would be losing her altogether with the show’s move to Vancouver. Snapper Carr will serve more as Kara’s boss during the second season, and bring a different dynamic to the show as a result.
