‘NCIS’ season 14 spoilers: Show boss on multiple new arrivals
When the 14th season of “NCIS” premieres on CBS this fall, it is certainly going to feel rather different than the ones that came before. That should be obvious at this point! You’re losing Michael Weatherly, and then gaining two people right away in Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). Duane Henry will also be coming back as Clayton Reeves a few episodes into the season. There’ll be a lot of new blood, and a lot of new energy in an effort to shake things up.
While we’ve heard a few teases about what specifically drew Quinn to NCIS after some time away, showrunner Gary Glasberg puts it into his own words as a part of a new interview with TVLine:
“Gibbs has been trying — unsuccessfully! — to find an agent to take over the empty desk [where DiNozzo sat] … He has burned through six of them … [Alex] an instructor at FLETC, the [Federal] Law Enforcement Training Center, so she basically shows up and says to Gibbs, ‘What the hell is wrong with you?!’”
Quinn will be speaking of course of Gibbs’ frequent rejections, and we figure that this eventually will lead into a sort of “you’re the only person good enough” scenario that will have a certain sweetness to it, but maybe only to a certain extent given that we could see Gibbs having a Tony hangover for quite some time still.
As for how Wilmer’s Torres enters the picture, we know that he is coming back home after spending an extensive period of time on a deep undercover mission. For one, one of our largest questions specifically relates to how he will become accustomed once more to everyday life.
