ABC adds to Netflix roster with ‘Quantico,’ ‘American Crime’
If you’ve got an interest this summer in checking out some ABC programming, Netflix has made it that much easier for you.
Today, it was announced (per The Hollywood Reporter) that the entire first season of “Quantico,” plus the first two seasons of “American Crime,” are now available on the streaming service as a part of a new pact. It’s an agreement that certainly makes some sense simply from the vantage point of the preexisting relationship that was there. Netflix has shown itself to be a great resource for fans of such shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “Agents of SHIELD,” and “How to Get Away with Murder.” Many of these seasons have even been made available not too long after their most-recent ones aired in a move to better ensure that there is time for people to catch up.
For “Quantico,” this could be especially useful given that in spite of an enormous amount of buzz and a lengthy marketing campaign, the first season did start to lose some steam in the ratings during the second half of it. Having it available to Netflix users in the next month or so could provide a bump.
On the flip side, it’s a slightly different situation for a show like “American Crime” given that this is an anthology series that utilizes a different story every single season, and as a result of that there’s no direct correlations between these past seasons and current ones. It will be interesting still to see if viewers checking out the first two seasons leads to an increase in attention for the third; the quality has always been there, but getting the attention of viewers has remained a challenge.
