‘Dancing with the Stars 23’: Val Chmerkovskiy, Lindsay Arnold, other pros returning
You may still have a week to go until you see for sure the roster of celebrities on “Dancing with the Stars” this season, but we can at least now tell you some of the pros taking part!
Popular pro Val Chmerkovskiy made an appearance on “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning, and confirmed that he would be returning alongside some other familiar faces like Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, Sasha Farber, Sharna Burgess, and Artem Chigvintsev. Allison Holker is also returning after a season off for maternity leave, and then Gleb Savchenko is making an appearance after previous dancing with Lisa Vanderpump many seasons ago. He’s also appeared on the UK version “Strictly Come Dancing.”
New episodes of “Dancing with the Stars” premiere next month, and there are some more pros that are to be announced clearly, given that we’ve only announced eight names so far. We know that Peta Murgatroyd will not be a part of this season after expecting a child with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and it doesn’t look like Derek Hough will be returning due to his “Hairspray Live!” commitments. The jury’s still out on Mark Ballas, who is one of the longest-tenured pros on the show at this point and has won the competition multiple times, and also the longest-tenured pro overall in Tony Dovolani, who has been a part of almost every season.
Ultimately, we do think that the selection of pros matters more than most, given at this point they are arguably the stars of the show as much as the celebrities who perform with them. You become attached to their personalities and want to root for them to succeed.
