‘The Amazing Race Canada 4’ episode 8 preview: Strategy rears its head in Cuba

At the time that Steph & Kristen chose to U-Turn Jillian & Emmett on “The Amazing Race Canada” this past week, we were admittedly of two minds about it. From one vantage point, you don’t really want to U-Turn someone who overcome the disadvantage and stay in the Race. There was still room for the “Big Brother Canada” alum to U-Turn someone else, and given their physical prowess this season, it felt easy to assume that they would find a way to survive.

With that said, Jillian & Emmett are one of the most threatening teams remaining, and if you’ve got a shot to get them out, you significantly increase your chance at winning. That’s why we don’t really blame Steph & Kristen going for it, even if a new preview for Tuesday’s episode shows that it may come back to bite them.

In this video (which you can see here), Emmett seems to see Steph struggling at the Roadblock in Cuba. He claims that he could help her out, but after what happened the prior leg he’s not that inclined to do so. AT this point in the Race, that’d probably be the smart move even if the U-Turn never happened. Steph is a part of a team on a three-leg winning streak, so do you really want to keep them around until the end?

All of the previews suggest that this could easily be the most-trying leg of the season for Steph & Kristen so far. They’re going to have at least some friction with each other (which hasn’t been shown on any other leg so far) during the volleyball-themed Face-Off. Then, a bloody accident could leave them in some trouble later on.
